Outlook 2007 Only Opens in Safe Mode

Symptoms:

Outlook will only start in safe mode or freezes as it starts in normal mode.

1. Open holding down control as you open Outlook, or by using running outlook.exe /safe
2. Click Tools -> Trust Center
3. Click Add-ins
4. At the bottom of the Add-Ins menu and look for the “Manage” drop down menu and select “COM Add-Ins”
5. Click “Go…”
6. Uncheck the box to the left of “Windows Search Email Indexer”
7. Click “Ok” then close/reopen in normal mode.If Outlook opens in normal mode, then the issue should be resolved.
8. You may want to re-enable add-ins until you find the one that’s causing the issue

If you receive the following error:  “The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed.”
