Evony Rose Medal and Cross Medal Strategy

I’ve seen a few strategies for getting medals quickly. Some of them involve using a small amount of warriors to do the work. Always remember to scout first using this method, and come up with a good number of troops using the Exercise option in the Rally Spot. I’ve also heard that using a hero with higher intelligence will yield more medals, but I haven’t seen anything personally to support this.

Outlook – Red X’s for images

Problem: A user reports a “red X” in the place of all images in an e-mail in Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2003, 2007. Details: Much like a web browser, Microsoft Outlook loads images into a temporary store to cache for quicker opening at a later time. For more details on how the Outlook SecureTemp folder works, click here. Resolution: The issue can usually be resolved by clearing all temporary internet files (much the same as one would for Microsoft Internet Explorer).

Embedded objects, text, pictures not visible in print preview – Microsoft Excel

Problem: A Microsoft Office Excel 2003 user reports that after sending an .XLS spreadsheet to an Excel 2007 user or vice versa, has it modified, then sent back, some embedded or inserted text, pictures, objects, and boxes are not visible in Print Preview or when actually printing the file. This occurs not only when printing to a printer, but also exporting to a .PDF. The objects can be modified when in normal working mode outside of Print Preview.

This is not a supported solution from Microsoft, but while on a call with Microsoft this was used by the technician to upgrade the terminal services client to RDC 6.1: Download the RDC 6.1 installer for Windows XP. Right click on the installer, select properties, and setup compatability mode for Windows XP. Install.

Terminal Services Easy Print Printer/Drive Mapping Issues

A recent application implementation through Terminal Services I was involved in had a large amount of problems with local printers and local drives not mapping correctly. The solution to the problem? Microsoft’s Easy Print driver wasn’t actually being used because .NET framework 3.0 and 3.0 SP1 weren’t installed. Evidently requirements mean requirements… who knew?

I wish I’d have know about all of these websites five years ago.  But below is a list of some handy World of Warcraft reference, information, and community sites.

Token blogger Armory link for credibility.

IPv6 – Avoiding the Captive Portal

A while back I was at a college campus library trying to get online while I waited on some friends to do homework. Like most colleges, this one was using a captive portal that required you to login and register your computer to get access to the Internet. Since I was bored and had little else to do I did what I usually do on a wireless network: lurk and see what’s going on.
